Urwins acquired the premises in 1982. At the time it was a run down boatyard with moorings. Urwins first phase was the construction of 2 holiday apartments, which involved the conversion of the brick built grain stores. They are now known as Hop Sack and Malt Shovel Cottages, which were completed in 1987. These two cottages were let alongside the boat hiring business, which replaced the adjoining Boat Yard with day boats. 1990 saw the purchase of the joining boat yard .In 2000 we built the three other cottages Grebe, Coot , Heron and our indoor swimming pool. 2006 saw the conversion of Hop Sack and Malt Shovel turned into two upside down cottages.

The Granaries History in Brief. The original parts of the building date back to the early eighteenth century. The norfolk wherries moored to offload and reload their cargoes en route to the main Norfolk Broads System. Hop Sack and Malt Shovel Cottages date back to 1845 where the date is still visible on the River Ant side of the buildings. Many original features remain in those two cottages such as the solid wood beams, sloping uneven floors and architecture.
